Munising

Theressa H. Parent, age 96, of Munising died peacefully, Sunday morning, February 10, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Moran, Michigan, on June 22, 1916 one of thirteen children of Thomas and Mary (Luptnitz) Schlehuber. Theressa married Glen Smith in 1934 and together they raised their two children. Glen preceded her in death in 1960. Theressa married William “Bill” Parent in 1964. She enjoyed BINGO, ceramics, painting, hook rugging, and spending time at family get-togethers. Theressa also had a knack for keeping things clean, her gardens were described as being spotless. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Munising.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Fay and Phil Fedoruk of Munising, daughter-in-law Sharon Smith of Olivet, Michigan; grandchildren – Phil (Taty) Fedoruk, Michelle (Dan) Bowyer, Patty Fedoruk, Terri (Jim) Tyner, Kari (Bill) Moss, and T.J. Smith; ten great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brother Charlie (Deb) Schlehuber, and numerous nieces and nephews. Theressa was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Glen and Bill, son Thomas Smith, and her brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February, 12, 2013 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Fr. Chris Gardiner will celebrate Theressa’s funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church in Munising. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in the spring.
