Seney
Ada Hollingshead Hyvonen, age 88, of M-77 Seney, died on Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on March 4, 1922 to William and Cecil (Emerson) Hollingshead. Ada married Arnold Hyvonen on May 11, 1941 and they had two children, Arnold "Bub" and Sonja. Ada was employed by Milo Gonser as a housekeeper for thirteen years and as a nurse's aide at the Applewood Manor for twenty-six years.
She is survived by her daughter - Sonja Hyvonen of Seney,; two brothers Cecil "Mickey" (Roberta "Bobbie") Hollingshead of Gulliver and Richard Hollingshead of Germfask; sister - Almina Summers of L'Anse; sisters-in-law - Elsie (Marvin) Burns of Marquette, Betty Rousseau of Munising, Dawn Hollingshead of Lakefield, Carol Hollingshead of Germfask and Joanne Hollingshead of Seney. Ada was preceded in death by her husband - Arnold Hyvonen, Sr.; son - Arnold "Bub" Hyvonen, Jr.; her parents - William and Cecil; three brothers - William "Bick" Hollingshead, Jr., Jerry Hollingshead, Sr. and Mervin Hollingshead, Sr.; sister - Marcella "Sally" Hyvonen; and brother-in-law - Ed Hyvonen. She is also survived by eight nieces and thirteen nephews plus numerous great nieces and nephews.
Ada liked picking four leaf clovers, fishing, dancing, and running the road around the horn with her best friend, Bertha Morrison. She was also a member of the Seney Social Club and she enjoyed eating ice cream and then feeding the deer her ice cream cones.
Her family would like to give special recognition to Tendercare for their wonderful care of Ada and especially her favorite aide, Edie.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Thursday, November 18, 2010. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Minister Diane Bowler of the Christ Fellowship Ministries will conduct Ada's funeral service in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will be at the Seney Cemetery and Ada will be escorted by her nephews.
