Deerton
Adair Mika, age 86, of Deerton, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at U.P. Health Systems Marquette. She was born on November 14, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Robert and Marguerite “Peggy” (Osmer) McDonald. Adair graduated from Cranford High School in 1948. In May of 1952, she married Andrew Mika. Following Andy’s discharge from the Army, they lived in Crown Point, Indiana. The family would spend much of their free time camping and enjoying nature. Adair worked at St. Anthony’s Medical Center as an admitting clerk in the E.R. and retired in 1991. She enjoyed painting her ceramic creations, and then moved to oil paintings and charcoal drawings of nature. After retirement, Adair and Andy moved to Deerton to enjoy the great outdoors and to continue their camping traditions. They were active members at St Therese Mission in AuTrain, where Adair served as a Eucharistic Minister.
She is survived by her children – Andrew (Barbara) Mika of Crown Point, IN, Kathy Lea Mika, and Mary Phillis Mika of Mandeville, LA; grandchildren – Jeffrey, Natalie, Colette, and A.J.; siblings – Nancy (Frank) Vodraska and Brian (Maria) McDonald; sister-in-law – Katherine McDonald-Harper; and several nieces and nephews. Adair was preceded in death by her Husband Andy Mika; parents – Robert and Peggy; and brother – Jay McDonald.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Therese Catholic Mission in AuTrain, MI from 11:00 a.m. unitl 12:00 noon. Fr. Chris Gardiner will celebrate Adair’s Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon in AuTrain. Interment will be on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Deerton Cemetery in Onota Township.
