Adele Pauline Gilbertson, age 81, of Munising and formerly of Manistique, died on Thursday morning, April 25, 2024 at UP Health System – Marquette. She was born in Munising on December 31, 1942 to the late Alexander and Frances “Fannie” (Syers) Sherwood. Pauline was married to Robert “Bob” Gilbertson and they lived in Wisconsin and Manistique where she took care of their home. They enjoyed taking rides together and spoiling their dogs. Bob preceded her in death on March 29, 2012. Pauline then moved to Munising and lived at the Jericho House for twelve years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a faithful woman. Pauline enjoyed spending time with her Commission on Aging “bestie”, Kim Bone. They would go on picnics, walk the boardwalk on Cox’s Pond in Wetmore, travel to local waterfalls, and spend time sitting down by the Lake while eating lunch. Pauline loved the peacefulness of the water.
Pauline is survived by her brother, Kenny Sherwood of Marquette and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Alexander and Fannie, husband Bob, sisters Judy Lloyd, Lucille Livermore and Norma Sherwood, and brothers Russell Sherwood, James “Jim” Syers, and Raymond Pulmer.
A graveside service will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 12:00 noon with President Jeremy Garrett of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints presiding.
