Agnes E. "Aggie" Gamelin, 87 of Mayflower, AR, formerly of Munising, MI, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at home surrounded by her family after a short illness. She was born September 16, 1921 to John and Saline Diotte in Marquette, MI.
Agnes attended schools in Marquette and Munising, MI. She married Louis "Crow" Gamelin on June 22, 1940 in Munising where she resided until he preceded her in death October 24, 1993 after 53 years of marriage. She worked several years at the Atlas Plywood plant until beginning a long career cooking at various restaurants including Ma's Lunch, The Forest Inn and Mary's Grill. She cooked and co-managed the Three Sisters Restaurant with her sisters Dolly and June for five years. She then semi-retired to enjoy her numerous grandchildren while working part time as a juvenile jail matron for about 13 years. She enjoyed her knitting and ceramic crafts, playing cards and bingo, and traveling around the country to casinos, but best of all she loved a party!

Aggie is survived by four sons: L. James (Patti), Richard (Linda), and Tom (Sally), all of Arkansas, Robert (Barb) and a son-in-law Ernie Monhead of Munising; three daughters Mary Jo (Roger) Washam and Bonnie Mannisto of Mayflower, AR and Patty (Bill) Whittaker of Greycourt, SC; brothers Jack (Joan), Jim, Bill (Tiny), and Peter (Irene) Diotte; sisters Dolly Huebert, Beverly (J.C.) Higgins, and Delores (Bob) Schindehette; sister-in-law Barb Gamelin and brother-in-law Donald Gamelin; twenty one grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter Judith Monhead, sisters June Berube, Christine Olson, and Alice Gollinger, and two grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Following the services, a time of visiting and fellowship with family and friends will be at Shooters at the Comfort Inn.
