Agnes “Aggie” St. Amour, age 87, of Munising, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 30, 2021. She was born on September 7, 1933 in Munising, Michigan to the late Henry and Laura (Tousignant) St. Amour. Aggie graduated from Wm. G. Mather in 1951. She then moved to California where she worked in an auto parts factory making actuators. Aggie returned home and began working at the Munising Paper Mill. She was one of the first women working in the factory. Aggie retired from Kimberly Clark after many years of dedicated service. Aggie loved her cabin on Miners Beach, it was a place where family and friends loved to be. Even after she had to remove her camp from the Park, she loved to go back and walk that beach. Aggie and her longtime friend and partner Argene made their home on Lake Superior. They loved to fish from Aggie’s Boston Whaler where they were very successful catching lake trout, even though Aggie never liked to eat fish. They also enjoyed camping and traveling. They visited Alaska, Florida, Colorado, and many of the National Parks out West. Aggie had a special love for her dogs, especial Sydney and Benji. For all that knew Aggie, they knew she was quick witted and very spunky, but she was also very generous and faithfully donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Disabled Veterans, Alzheimer’s Foundation, Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, Alger County Animal Shelter, Food Pantry, and anyone who was in need. She was faithful member of Sacred Heart Church.
Aggie is survived by her sister-in-law Eileen St. Amour and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents – Henry and Laura; partner – Argene Golisek; and siblings – Laura (Ed) Keusch, Vange (Jim) Fromm, Floyd (Ethel) St. Amour, Hank St. Amour, Hoot (Peg) St. Amour, and Irene (Chuck) Mully.
