Shingleton
Albert Lee McGee, age 84, of Percy Road in Shingleton, died Thursday, September 25, 2014 at his home under the loving care of his family. He was born on April 8, 1930 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Martha and John McGee. Al married Betty Jarrell and together raised their two children Betty Joyce and James Albert. They moved to Shingleton in 1981 and then to Percy Road in 1984 where they have lived since. Al was a very gentle and quiet man. He loved Betty for fifty-seven years. Al worked in the woods, farming, and at the Health Haven. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the garden with Betty, taking care of his animals, and when the work was done, Al enjoyed drinking a couple of beers with Jim at the end of the day to relax.
Al is survived by his son - Jim (Becky Hill) of Shingleton; daughter - Betty Joyce (Phil) Borger of Quincy, MI; sisters - Belle Hamlin of Coldwater, Hazel (George) Coley also of Coldwater; sister-in-law - Jackie McGee of Shingleton; several nieces and nephews; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty on July 18, 2014, parents, brothers Bill and Howard, sisters Edder, Sis, Jewel, and daughter-in-law Dora McGee.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Pastor George Dwelley will conduct Al's funeral service at the funeral home at noon. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
