Gwinn
Ali Stark, age 26, of 517 Stratocruiser Street, Gwinn, died Thursday morning, December 29, 2011 due to severe trauma brought on by an automobile accident on Glass's Curve on M-553 in Sands Township. Ali was born on June 14, 1985 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the fifth of eight children born to Darlene Stark. In 1999, his family moved to Sister Lakes, Michigan. Ali graduated in 2003 from Dowagiac Union High School where he holds the record for the highest ACT score, 35 out of 36. He further continued his education at Northern Michigan University where he studied for a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management. Ali graduated from NMU Summa cum laude. He was experienced in a variety of skilled labor positions including but not limited to concrete, carpentry, roofing, commercial construction, and millwork, and he enjoyed his job as an assistant installer with McCabe's flooring. Ali had strong interpersonal communication skills and excellent mathematical, organizational, and reasoning skills.
He married Tricia A. Goodrich on August 22, 2009. Ali was a very talented individual with a beautiful soul who was very talented with his hands. He loved doing all kinds of artwork whether it be drawing portraits or creating ceramics. Ali thoroughly enjoyed music as well, teaching himself to play the guitar and because of this he was able to soothe his daughter to sleep every night with a lullaby. He had a variety of tastes in music from bluegrass to heavy metal. Ali was an outstanding individual with a smile and robust laugh that would melt your heart. Amongst all of these things, he was a devoted husband and an extremely loving father. His wife and daughter were his world and he did everything in his power to protect them. He was and always will be their own personal guardian angel.
Ali is survived by his wife of 2 ½ years - Tricia Stark and their daughter River both of Gwinn; his mother - Darlene Stark of Sister Lakes, MI; sisters - Yasmene Abdel-Warress and Shamah Stark both of New Berlin, WI and Zorana Rankovic of Sister Lakes; brothers - Timothy Stark of New Berlin, Salah (Rosanne) Abdel-Warress and Omar Stark both of Sister Lakes and Slobadon Rankovic of Neshkoro, WI; father and mother-in-law - Lorne and Julie Goodrich of Munising; sister-in-law - Natasha (Jamin) Wonch of Gwinn; brother-in-law - Travis Goodrich of Munising; nieces - Kyra Abdel-Warress of Sister Lakes, Grace Stark of Kalamazoo, Quinley Wonch of Gwinn, and a set of twins on the way. Ali was preceded in death by his grandmother Shirley Stark of Sister Lakes.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Visiting time will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Pastor Elisabeth Zant will conduct Ali's memorial service in the funeral home's chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising. If donations are preferred in lieu of flowers, an account for his daughter's future is being established.
