Chatham
Alice Lorraine (Ylitalo) Reynolds, age 84, of Chatham, entered eternal life on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at her home under the loving care of her granddaughter. She was born on June 20, 1935 in Eben Junction to Aili and Neil Ylitalo. Alice graduated from Eben High School in 1953. She worked in Chicago, Illinois for a few years before returning to Chatham. Alice worked for U.P. Power Company in Munising for five years before moving to Marquette to work at J.C. Penney, then Angeli’s Grocery Store, Vollworth’s and Woolworth’s. In all of her jobs, Alice was involved in bookkeeping, a job she enjoyed and was quite good at. In 1982, Alice married Richard Reynolds and together they made their home in Chatham. Her faith and love for her family was most important.
Alice is survived by her brother Edward Jack Ylitalo of Gurnee, IL; sister Phyllis (John) Trudeau of Marquette, MI; granddaughter Ashley Brisson of Chatham; and great-granddaughters Ava and Arya; stepchildren – Scott (Helen) Reynolds, Susan Reynolds, and Holly (Gregory) Huland; two nieces – Elisa Thompson and Liisa Eyerly; four nephews – Jeffrey Trudeau, Roger Trudeau, Gerald Whitmarsh, and Bill Whitmarsh. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard Reynolds; daughter June Tanner; sister Ruth (Bruce) Whitmarsh; and sister-in-law – Anja Elina Ylitalo.
Alice’s family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at UPHS, UP Home Health and Hospice and North Woods Home Hospice for enabling her to be cared for at home in her final days, with family.
