Alice L. Trelford, age 89, of Chatham, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette. She was born in Negaunee, Michigan on November 18, 1928 to the late Arthur and Margaret (Priuska) Laakso. Alice grew up on her family farm in Chatham and graduated from Eben High School in 1947. While in high school, Alice started working for the Michigan State University Extension in Chatham. After graduation she continued working for MSU in their Marquette office where she worked for over thirty years. Alice reconnected with her childhood friend and classmate and married Jack E. Trelford in 1984. They lived in Scottsdale, Arizona for a few years before moving back to Jack’s family home in Chatham. Alice worked for many years at Sion Lutheran Church office where she was a member. Alice and Jack loved watching baseball, basketball, and football, and were avid Green Bay Packer and University of Michigan fans. They also enjoyed traveling to the Big House to cheer on the Wolverines and Arizona to visit family.
Alice was survived by her husband Jack Trelford of Chatham; son – Mike (Linda) Trelford of Fox River Grove, IL; son-in-law – Joseph Hessinger of Pine Top, AZ; grandsons - Joey (Katie) and Jack; two greatgrandchildren; brother – Art (Doris) Laakso of Apple Valley, CA, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and special niece Katie Moore. She was preceded in death by her father – Arthur Laakso; mother – Marge (Matt) Ulvi; husband – Eddy Seppi; daughter – Michelle “Shelly” Hessinger; son - Tommy Trelford; and grandson – Matt Hessinger.
A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Leslie Niemi officiating. Alice will be buried at the same time as her daughter, Shelly Hessinger.
