Munising
Amy May (Dale) Graves, age 43, of 1404 Center Street, Munising, died on Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2013 at Marquette General Hospital following a courageous battle with breast cancer for nearly ten years. She was born in Munising on April 29, 1970 to Jim and Sandy (Crandall) Dale. Amy grew up in Wetmore and graduated from Munising High School in 1988 where she had participated in cross country, track and band. Amy attended Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan Universities. She began employment at Peoples State Bank in September of 1993 and was the Assistant Cashier at the time of her death. Amy was a team captain for PSB's Relay for Life team and she was an Advisory Board member and dedicated volunteer for the Eric Beverly Family Foundation. Throughout her life, Amy was supportive of Munising's athletic and academic programs. She spent nearly twenty-five years as a coach's wife and she enjoyed attending basketball, track, and cross country events. She enjoyed sitting in the sun, camping, and walking. Amy was a fantastic woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a generous heart, a loving smile, and she radiated beauty inside and out.
Amy is survived by her husband - Alan Graves of Munising; their son - 2nd Lt. Ryan Graves (USMC) of Munising; father - Jim Dale of Wetmore; sister - Carmen (Ken) Baker of Sheboygan, WI; mother-in-law - Anne Graves of Munising; nieces - Peyton and Trisha; nephews - Brady, Jordan, Connor, and Colton; brothers-in-law - Rick (Beth) Graves of Spring Grove, IL and Paul Graves of Munising; best friend - Elaine LeVeque; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Amy was preceded in death by her mother - Sandy Dale, grandparents - Arthur & Katherine Dale and Lorance & Nora Crandall, father-in-law - Rich "Hawkeye" Graves, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visiting time with family and friends will be on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home. Amy's memorial service will be held at Eden Lutheran Church on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Elisabeth Zant officiating. A fellowship gathering will take place at the church following her memorial service. Interment will be at the Munising Township Cemetery in Wetmore.
