Munising
On Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 7:23 p.m. with Elmer playing "What's Forever For" softly in the background, Ann Dolaskie, surrounded by family, chose to let cancer take her to a better place. With husband Tom at her side Ann passed peacefully and painlessly, saving her last heartbeat for Valerie, head on her chest to hear. She was born on February 27, 1961 in Munising to the late Peter and Jennie (Klosowski) Heryman. Ann graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1979. She married Thomas J. Dolaskie III on July 5, 1980, and together they raised their three children. Ann enjoyed playing with her dogs, listing to old country music, doing yard work, and creating her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She began delivering mail for the United States Postal Service in the early 1980's, and also worked as a waitress at the Country Connection where she was able to let her personality shine. Ann enjoyed spending time with her friends, whether it was coffee with the girls, or entertaining people she could always keep them smiling with her sassy attitude. She would volunteer with the Alger Cancer Support Fund. Most important to Ann was her family, she would do anything she could to protect them. She loved going on vacation to visit her children, wherever they were, playing with her grandchildren and their ears, and going for motorcycle rides with Tom.
She is survived by her husband of thirty years - Thomas Dolaskie of Munising; three children - Thomas (Myra) Dolaskie IV of Munising, Joseph (Erin) Dolaskie of Santa Maria, CA and Valerie (Casey) Dolaskie of Munising; grandchildren - Elliot Dolaskie and Nolan Dolaskie; siblings - Larry (April) Heyrman, Eddie (Bunny) Heryman, Peter (Judy) Heyrman, Pat (Kip) McNally, Dorothy (Lloyd) Hannah, Paul (Cheryl) Heryman and Mary Alice (Mark) Cabanaw; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law - Gladys Dolaskie; and brother-in-law - Thomas Mahalic. Ann was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Jennie Heyrman, sister Betty Mahalic, father-in-law Thomas J. Dolaskie II and niece Rachel Heyrman.
