Anna Walls Kallio

Anna Walls Kallio, age 83, of Trenary died with her daughter by her side on Tuesday afternoon, February 23, 2010 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was the daughter of Thomas and Julia Hendershot and was born in Livonia on Augutst 23, 1926. Anna was raised and attended school in the Redford Township area. During WWII, she installed windshields into the B-24 Liberator aircraft at the Willow Run plant. Anna worked as a waitress in Romulus before going to work for King Seely. Eventually Chrysler bought the factory and she continued to work for them on the production line until her retirement in 1977. Anna had married Conrad August Walls in Angola, Indiana on May 15, 1950 and together they raised their three children. After retirement, they moved to the Old Gilliand farm in Trenary. Conrad preceded her in death on May 5, 1989. Anna attended the Limestone Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, playing BINGO, visiting casinos, making crafts, and playing cribbage. In 1992, she married Arthur W. Kallio and he also preceded her in death on January 17, 2009.
Anna is survived by her children - Sandra Walls of Trenary, Joe (Melissa) Walls of Belleville, and Chuck (Nancy) Walls of Mason; grandchildren - Christopher, Natalie, Jeffrey, Gregory, and Ursula; great grandchildren - Elliana and Andrew; sisters - Julie Davis, Rose Hurdt, Virginia Lack, and Clara Hall; brothers - Elmer Davis, Clarence Hendershot, and Kenneth Hendershot; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Conrad and Art, and brothers Tony and Harry Davis.
Visitation will be at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and also at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Anna's funeral will be on Saturday, February 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Limestone Baptist Church with Pastor Ted Jolls officiating. Interment will be at the Mathias Township Cemetery in Trenary in the spring.
