Ardis Marie Starr, 84 of Chatham, MI passed away Friday, June 15, 2018 at UP Health System in Marquette. She was born August 10, 1933 to Francis and Laura (Custer) Schwab in Sunfield, MI.
Ardis was a High School Graduate and attended Lansing Community College. She worked for General Motors in Lansing, MI for 25 years. She enjoyed being involved in politics especially when it came to the Democratic Party, where she was known as a proud “rebel rouser” when attending any of those events. Ardis enjoyed traveling, listening to music, camping, playing cards and reading. When asked ‘How are you doing’ her sense of humor came out with two classic lines ‘I’m fat & sassy, mean & ornery’ or ‘everyone I can and the easy ones twice’
She is survived by 5 children; Russell Marra of Valparaiso, IN, Lewana (Tab) Hinton of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel Marra of Valparaiso, IN, Laurel (Brad) Buttruff of Deadwood, SD and Myla (Art) Tomkinson of Chatham; 11 Grandchildren; 19 Great-grandchildren; Sister; Ann (Ken) Kirchen of Hastings, MI; Brother-in-law Charles Morris of Goose Creek, SC; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gertude Morris and grandchild, Nicholas Hinton.
An open house celebration of life will be held at Ardie's home, Whispering Pines, N5528 Finns Spur Road in Chatham, MI on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. If condolences wish to be expressed, they can be mailed to P.O. Box 145, Chatham, MI 49816.
