Regina "Argene" Anne Golisek, age 92, of West Shore Road, Munising died on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at her home. She was born on July 26, 1919 in Munising to the late Szymon "Sam" and Pelagia "Pearl" (Klosowski) Golisek who immigrated here rom Lublin, Poland in 1913. Argene attended Sacred Hearth School and Mather High School before starting work in the Finishing Room at Munising Paper Mill in 1940. She retired from the Planning Department of Kimberly Clark Paper Mill in 1982. Argene had been a life-long member of Sacred Heart Church. Throughout her life, Argene loved the woods and water, driving back roads to hunt or pick mushrooms, fishing, boating, traveling, walking, usually with an adopted dog by her side, and spending time with her large circle of family and friends. She will always be remembered for being the best "Peirogi" maker. "Aunt Gene" has touched us all at one time or another with some funny or happy experience.

Argene is survived by sisters-in-law - Lois Golisek of Munising and Cybil Golisek of Munising; many nieces and nephews; her life-long friend and caregiver - Agnes St. Amour of Munising; and constant companion - Benji, her dog. She was preceded in death by her parents, Szymon "Sam" and Pelagia "Pearl" Golisek, sisters Genevieve Trombly, Janina "Jenny" Percy, Lillian Gerwatowski, Rose Golisek, Pearl "Tootsie" Gerwatwoski and brothers Conrad (remained in Poland), Theodore and Carl Golisek.


A Mass will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising. A luncheon will follow at LaMothe Hall.
