Munising
Arlene Froberg, age 70, of Munising, died under the loving care of her family and North Woods Hospice on Friday, April 17, 2009 at 6:40 p.m. She was born in Munising to the late Herman and Ellen (Maki) Monette. Arlene was raised in Deerton and Munising and attended school in Munising. She married Richard "Dick" Froberg on September 29, 1956 and she raised their three sons. Arlene had worked as a waitress at the Red Cedar for many years. She went to work at Hartho when they first opened the veneer mill. Arlene worked there for over twenty years and retired from Timber Products. She and her two sisters and friend Ron Miron, opened and operated the Gift Station in Munising. She worked there as owner and also as a friend after the shop was sold. Arlene was a member of the Pictured Rocks Golf Course. Arlene enjoyed having a good time with family and friends. She loved to golf, dance, and travel. Arlene enjoyed her home on Twin Lakes and had a knack for decorating, baking, and refinishing furniture. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Arlene enjoyed watching the girls dance, ice skating with her favorite grandson (until she broke her arm), and watching them participate in their sporting events.
She is survived by her three sons and daughter-in-law - Brad and Donna Froberg of Green Bay, Terry Froberg of Phoenix, AZ, and Nick (Jodi Petosky) of Green Bay; husband and lifelong friend - Dick Froberg of Munising; grandchildren - Shelby, Sheena, and Logan; sisters - Phyllis (Hans) Baij of Wetmore and Gerry (William) Mazzali of Laguna Vista, TX; half-sister - Ann Donato of Ishpeming; half-brother - Jack Saari of Marquette; sister and brothers-in-law - Pauline (Paul) Knuttila of Christmas and Oscar Froberg of Marquette; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Jordan, and brother Art.
Visiting time with family and friends will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be conducted by Deacon Tom Moseley at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
