Munising Arthur "Red" Lawrence LeVeque, age 86, of Munising, died on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital following a lengthy COPD and cardiac illness. He was born on August 11, 1928 in Munising to the late Kenneth "Jack" and Marjorie (nee Meeker) LeVeque, Sr. Art went to work at the foundry in Munising when he was twelve and worked there throughout high school. Red graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1947 and went to work immediately at the Munising Paper Company. In 1950, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and left with a crew of guys from the area for Fort Hood, Texas. While home on furlough, he married Dolores Lynne Kroupa on May 12, 1951. Red served in Frankenmuth, Germany and was honorably discharged on November 27, 1952. He returned to the mill and retired from Kimberly Clark with 43 ½ years of service. Dolores and Art raised their three daughters and he was always a dedicated family man. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and was a talented singer and harmonica player. Art enjoyed swimming, hunting, fishing, trapping, cutting wood, and being outdoors. He is survived by his wife of over sixty-three years - Dolores LeVeque of Munising; their daughters - Mari Beth LeVeque of Munising, Nita "Juanita" Lynne (Skip) LeVeque Pugh of Ohio and Kristine Belle LeVeque and her partner Mel Dunn of Munising; granddaughters - Brooke Lynne (Rusty) Varn and Starr Desiree' (Kevin) Joyner; great-grandchildren - Starr Kristine Sparks, Brandall "Storm" Sparks, Sage Elizabeth Sparks, Brooklynn Elizabeth Joyner, and Kristin Rose Joyner; brother - James LeVeque of Munising; adopted brother - Larry (Kay) LeVeque of Munising, sister-in-law - Bonnie LeVeque of Munising; goddaughter - Jude Bernard Holloway; and numerous nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Marjorie, brother Kenneth "Lefty" LeVeque, sister-in-law Jacqueline LeVeque, and grandchildren Seth Arthur and Sonnee Lynne. ***Graveside Services are now open to the public. Art's graveside service will be on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising. ***
