Athlone "Billie" Forrester, age 89, of Powell Lake Road, Wetmore, died Tuesday evening, March 11, 2008 at the Whispering Pines Care Facility in Chatham. She was born on July 24, 1918 in Petoskey, Michigan to Arnold and Beulah (Scott) Strand. Billie married Hugh Forrester on October 12, 1940. They were married over fifty-one years when Hugh preceded her in death in February of 1992. Billie was a homemaker and raised seven children before she worked as a custodian in the Southfield School System for over ten years and retired from there at the age of seventy. Four years ago, she moved to the Upper Peninsula to be closer to her son when she needed some extra help. Billie enjoyed flower gardening and shopping.
She is survived by three sons - Douglas (Lydia) Forrester of Livonia, Duane Forrester of Farmington, and Lon (Bev) Forrester of Dearborn Heights; daughter - Robin Forrester of Redford; daughters-in-law - Alice Forrester of Wetmore and Ellie Forrester of Brighton; grandchildren - Candace, Tracy, Hugh, Heather, Lon Jr., Kenny, Clint, Keith, and Bill; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother - Bud Strand of Petoskey; nieces and nephews. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hugh, three sons - Tony Forrester in 2006, Jerry Forrester in 2007, and Richard "Dick" Forrester on March 7, 2008, and two sisters - Madeline and Marcella.
