Graveside services for Aune Anna-Liisa Hallstrom will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. There will be a fellowship luncheon and time of visiting at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church on W. Onota Street in Chatham from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. and all are invited to partake prior the interment service at the cemetery. Mrs. Hallstrom, widow of Hugo Hallstrom, died in Duluth, Minnesota on January 13, 2019. She was born on December 9, 1922 in Hämeenlinna, Finland to Olga Maria (Järvinen) and Valfrid Laurell. Aune moved to Toronto, Ontario and later to Windsor, Ontario. She then moved to Eben Junction, Michigan and married Hugo on October 10, 1970. They were married thirty-nine years when he preceded her in death on December 20, 2009. In October of 2014, Aune moved to Duluth where she enjoyed many grandchildren and friends. She was a life long member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.
Aune was also preceded in death by her sisters - Toini Salonen, Sanni Kokko, Taimi Ahola, Lempi Laurell, Salli Viljakainen; her step children - Fremont Hallstrom, Nina Raisanen, Edith Granger, John Hallstrom, Alice Blomquist, and Greta Huegel.
She is survived by her sister Aila Saura of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; step children: Marie Hendrickson of Dassel, MN, son in law Marvin (Effie) Raisanen of Dassel, MN, Ruth Homola of Woodland, WA, Karen Deel-Swenor of Marengo, WI, Elizabeth (Fred) Watson of Lake Linden, MI, Linda (Walter) Granger of Elkton, MD, daughter in law Jeanne Hallstrom of Dassel, MN, Charles (Bonnie) Hallstrom of Laurium, MI, Edward (Ruth) Hallstrom of Eben Junction, MI; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and Christian friends.
