Barbara L. Bowerman, age 77, of Chocolay Street, Munising, died following a two month illness on Wednesday evening, November 19, 2014 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born in Munising on June 8, 1937 to the late William "Bill" and Jennie (Sharron) Lindquist. Barb graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1955 and then attended Flint Junior College. She married William W. Bowerman III on July 2, 1960 and she and Butch raised their three children together. Barb went to work for the Nebel Law Office and worked as a legal secretary for twenty-seven years. Butch and Barb enjoyed traveling together and they treasured time with their grandchildren. Barb was a member of Sacred Heart Church where years ago she taught catechism classes. She was Brownie Leader when her daughters were young. Barb enjoyed spending time at camp, playing Bridge, reading, taking trips to the casino, and her early morning exercise routine at the fitness center.
She is survived by her children - William (Susan Marshall) Bowerman IV of Hyattsville, MD, Beth (Alan) Girard of Norway, MI, and Bertina Bowerman of Munising; grandchildren - Drew Bowerman, Meghan Bowerman, Mary Bowerman, Taylor Bowerman, John Bowerman, and Keegan Girard; great-grandchildren - Rowen, Jakob, Kinsley, and Ada Lou; brother - Gary (Virginia) Lindquist of Grand Rapids, MI; siblings-in-law - Billie Lindquist, Beezie MacNeil, Patty (Bill) Nash, Dick (Mary) Bowerman, Katy (Len) Zelazoski, Lynne Bowerman, Tom Bowerman, David Bowerman, Ken (Barbie) Bowerman, Jeff Bowerman, and Kim (Mike) Harris; numerous nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by Butch, her husband of over forty-seven years, on September 1, 2007; her parents; sister - Nancy Robare; brothers - Carl Lindquist, Jack Robinson, and Ed Tallman; in-laws - Jack Robare, Bob Bowerman, and Bruce MacNeil.
Services will be on Saturday, November 22, 2014. Visitation will be at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Father Chris Gardiner will celebrate Barb's Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 1:30 PM. The American Legion Auxiliary will conduct services and Father Chris Gardiner will conduct committal prayers.
