Barbara Jeanne Glatus, age 83, of Munising and formerly of Rapid River, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising with her children at her side. She was born in Detroit on August 5, 1931. Barbara married Richard "Dick" Glatus in Detroit and then moved to Munising and together they raised their two children. While in Munising, she worked for Art Nieman, for Judge Pater at Probate Court, and in admitting at Munising Memorial Hospital. Barb liked sewing for her grandkids, knitting, crocheting and she was very crafty. She was a member of the Lady Foresters and served as a 4-H leader and was also a Den Mother. Barb loved playing Bingo and she loved being with her grandchildren.
Barb is survived by two children - Tom Glatus of Rapid River and Cheryl Anderson of Munising; grandchildren - Alan (Michelle) Glatus, Melissa Glatus, Michael (Alysha Duke) Murdock, and Maria Murdock; great-grandchildren - Kalie, Ellarie, Dominick, and one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Dick" Glatus and daughter-in-law - Kathy Glatus.
Visitation will be at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Deacon Tom Moseley will officiate Barbara's service at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
