Hampton Benjamin "Ben" Waring, age 23, of Mathias Township died in an auto accident in Dover, Wisconsin on Saturday, February 19th, 2011. He was born on April 6th, 1987 in Marquette to Hampton and Mary Beth (Ziegler) Waring. Ben attended Superior Central Schools and graduated in 2005. During his high school years, he met his future fiancée, Jessica Shega-Fox, and enjoyed basketball, baseball, wood shop, track, and sometimes studying. Ben was a member of the National Honor Society and was active with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program and D.A.R.E. He earned All-State, All-Class Honorable Mention accolades in basketball in his senior year. Ben spent his summers working at the Holmquist Shingle Mill, throwing hay bales, and working for any neighbor who needed help. After graduation, he attended Michigan Technological University, during which time he spent two summers interning for the Alger County Road Commission. Ben enjoyed his college years, especially playing MTU club baseball and paintball in tournaments all over the country. As his Senior Design Project, he helped design a bridge in Soloy, Panama. He graduated from Tech as a Civil / Structural Engineer in December of 2009. Ben worked in Wisconsin for J.T. Engineering and had just completed the Burlington Bypass Project. While in Wisconsin, he continued to enjoy baseball and paintball. His plans were to marry his high school sweetheart, Jessica, in July of 2012. He loved playing with little kids, especially with his second cousins - Kathrine, Mason, and Addison. Ben loved his dogs Lincoln and Elly and he enjoyed customizing everything about his pickup truck, "Talula." Ben always had a project in the works and enjoyed using tools and technology.

Ben loved being at home with his close knit family. He especially enjoyed family movie nights and swimming in the creek on their property. A great day for Ben included comfy clothes, lots of good food, and chocolate milk. He took great pleasure in spending time with his siblings - most recently when they joined him as students at Michigan Tech. Ben was a remarkable young man who had a real sense of clarity about life. He had a way of listening to his friends' problems and with his down to earth character, he could simplify the issue and show them that it wasn't as big as it seemed. Friends lovingly said about Ben that "he got it" in regards to life. He was a great role model for all who knew him.

Ben is survived by fiancée - Jessica Shega-Fox, his proud parents -Hampton and Mary Beth Waring of N1564 Paulsen Road, Chatham, MI 49816; sister - Kate Waring; brother - Joe Waring; grandparents - Hampton and Betty Ann Waring of Hales Corners, WI and Elizabeth Ziegler of Muskego, WI; aunts - Kathy Fisher of Muskego, WI and Elizabeth (Walter) Noble of Burlington, WI; uncle - Mark Ziegler of Muskego, WI; cousins -, Christel (Noble) Nelson, John Noble . and Jay (Rhiannon) Noble and their children Kathrine, Mason and Addison.
