Bernard M. Bugg, age 80, of Munising, died Saturday, October 17, 2020 at UPHS following complications with an infection of COVID-19. He was born on March 14, 1940 in Grand Marais, Michigan to the late Bernard V. and Saima (Olli) Bugg. When Bernie was 10, his family moved to Munising. He graduated from Wm. G. Mather in 1958. Bernie became a union welder for a few years and then started his career as long-haul trucker. He bought his own rig in the mid 70’s and traveled across the United States. Later, Bernie worked for Gerou’s driving a cement truck, and in the winters groomed the snowmobile trails. Even at the age of 80 Bernie, continued to work as an arborist at his own tree removal service. Bernie loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and four-wheeling. He was a member of the Alger County White Tails Association. Bernie also enjoyed riding cross country with friends on his motorcycle and looked forward to his many trips to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
He is survived by his children – Sue Brown of Anderson, SC, Shane (Jacque) Bugg of Grand Marais, Brenda (Dwight) Whitman of Wilmington, NC, Bethany Tackett of Ishpeming, Katy (Bill) Brisson of Limestone, and Frank Bugg of Munising; special friend – Kay LeVeque; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings – Barb Pease, Bonnie Frederick, and Jim Bugg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter - Kathy Lynn Bugg; sister – Carolyn Cook; and brothers-in-law – Vern Pease and Dean Frederick.
