Shingleton
Bertram "Bert" Linne, age 81, of Pontiac, MI and formerly of Shingleton, died at his family home in Shingleton on Monday, August 8, 2011 under the loving care of his family and North Woods Home Hospice. He was born on June 7, 1930 in Munising, MI to the late William and Vera (Erickson) Linne. Bert enlisted into the United States Army in August of 1948. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal with the Korean Service Medal with three Campaign Stars. Shortly after returning from the service he moved to Pontiac, where he worked as a spot welder for Infra Corporation for thirty plus years before his retirement. Bert was a member of the American Legion, VFW, NRA, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, bowling, and spending time with kids, weather it was playing games or making a homemade slip-and-slide.
Bert is survived by his three children - Sheila (Dan) Rumschlag of Armada, MI, Karen Palmer of Madison Heights, MI, and Kevin (Kelley) Linne of Munising; grandchildren - Neil, Bryan, Jimmy, Eric, Jason, Eldon, Mike, Tom, and Sam; siblings - Reino (Shirley) Linne, Charles (Myrtle) Linne, and Eleanor Bellant; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents - William and Vera; siblings - Joyce Eileen Linne, Arthur John Linne, Sharon Ann Linne, Donald Lee Linne, and Russell "Pug" Linne; and brother-in-law- George Nelson Bellant.
His visitation will be on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 12:00 until 3:00p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home. Bert's funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the Alger County Veterans Council and American Legion Honor Guard conducting his military honors, Pastor George Dwelly will conduct the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home's chapel.
