Betty Jean Lane, age 88, of 200 W. City Park Drive, Munising, died on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising surrounded by her family. She was born on May 21, 1923 in Munising to the late Russell and Margaret (Mee) Stephens. Betty grew up in Munising and on July 9, 1943, she married James "Jim" Robert Lane. They were married over forty-nine years when he preceded her in death on July 13, 1992. Betty was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed spending time around the campfire with her family where they would spend hours singing and burning hot dogs. Betty loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and guitar.
She is survived by children - Donna (Ray) Gollinger of Munising; George (Sandy) Lane of Wetmore, and Robert Lane of Munising; eight grandchildren; sisters - Dorothy "Dot" Kuenzer of Sault Ste. Marie and Norma Secreast of Munising; brother - William Stephens of Kissimmee, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, son Jim Lane in December of 1991; brothers John and George Stephens, and sisters Margaret "Ummie" Boguth and Ruth Fitzgerald.
