Betty McGee, age 71, of Shingleton, died Friday, July 18, 2014 at her home under the loving care of her family, following a several month battle with cancer. She was born on June 11, 1943 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Willie and Deenie (Guy) Jarrell. Betty married Albert McGee and together they raised their two children. They moved to the U.P. in 1981 and have lived in their home on Percy Road since 1984. Betty worked as a nurse's aid at both the Superior Shores Nursing Home and Superior Health Haven. She enjoyed fishing with Al, mowing the grass, and working in the garden. Betty was a great mom and loving wife.
She is survived by her husband - Albert McGee of Shingleton; son - Jim (Becky Hill) McGee of Shingleton; daughter - Betty Joyce (Phil) Borget of Quincy, MI; sisters - Mary Ann Ragsdale of North Port, AL and Peggy Sue Cook of Moundville, AL; sister-in-law - Jackie McGee; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brothers - Willie, Perry, Robert, and Truman, and daughter-in-law - Dora McGee.
Visitation will be at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Pastor George Dwelley will conduct Betty's funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
