Beverly J. Tackmann

Munising

Beverly J. Tackmann, age 78, of H-58, Munising, died on Friday evening, July 15, 2011 at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.  She was born on January 14, 1933 in Munising to the late Arthur and Marie (LaFave) Denny.  Bev graduated from Sacred Heart School and then from Wm. G. Mather High School.  She went to work at the Munising Woodenware and that is where she met John Tackmann.  They were married in 1951.  After the Woodenware closed, they moved to Ohio and lived there for twenty years before returning to the U.P. when they moved to Marquette in 1966.  Bev worked at St. Mary's Hospital as a ward clerk.  In 1991, they moved to Munising and Bev continued to work and volunteer for the hospital, nursing homes and home health.  She really enjoyed taking care of people.  Bev's faith was very important to her and she was a member of St. Louis the King in Harvey and Sacred Heart in Munising.  She enjoyed collecting angels and her yearly trips to Mackinac Island.

Bev is survived by her husband of 60 years, 6 months and 10 days - John Tackmann at Jacobetti; son and daughter-in-law - Carl and Terri Tackmann of Harvey; daughter - Becky Tackmann of Negaunee; grandson - Jacob VanPelt of Harvey; sisters - Marie Rieter of Cadillac and Rosemary (Jerry) Whitlock of Fort Myers, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Arthur Jr. and Paul Albert Denny and sister Therese Thinanders.

Father Ben Paris will conduct a memorial service in the chapel of the  Jacobetti Home for Veterans on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.

Bev's family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff and volunteers at Jacobetti, Dr. Skendzel, Lake Superior Hospice and the "No Veteran Dies Alone" Program Volunteers - Ron, Jim and Pam.
