Munising
Carol Jean Draze, age 79, died Saturday morning August 11, 2007 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on December 24, 1927 in Marquette, MI to the late Russell and Hazel Bernard. Carol graduated from William G. Mather High School in 1946. She married William Draze in 1948 and together they built the home that they raised their two children Ed and Lorraine. Carol spent many years as a clerk at different grocery stores throughout Munising, and also at Madigan's Hardware. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and had a close connection with all of her friends at the Jericho House. Carol was an avid bingo enthusiast, and enjoyed playing slots.
She is survived by her son - Ed (Sally) Draze of Porterfield, WI; daughter - Lorraine (Dennis) Knutson of Little Suamico, WI; grandchildren - Tracie, Juliane, and Jake Draze, Eric (Jenera), and Chris (Penny) Knutson; and several great-grandchildren; kindred spirit and brother - Russell (Bonnie) Bernard; special nieces - Jude, Sheryl, and other nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her husband in August of 1972 - William Draze; her parents; and three sisters - Dorothy and Lorraine Bernard, and Joyce (Pee-Wee) St. Martin.
Carol's visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a Parish Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Father Chris Gardiner will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church in Munising. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
