Carolyn "Carol" Jean Takkinen, age 57, of Takkinen Road, Chatham, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born to Frank and Marina (Nelson) Krajewski on January 29, 1955 in Munising. Carol liked to knit, sew, but most of all bake. She also liked to mow the grass, flower garden, and be outside at the BBQ pit. Carol worked at the Chatham Co-op for over twenty-six years. She went to school in Munising and she met Bill Takkinen in 1970. They were married on March 24, 1973.
Carol is survived by her parents - Frank and Marina Krajewski of Munising; siblings - Patty (Jim) Toerpe, Cindy (Jeff) Tech, and Frank Krajewski all of Manitowac, WI; sister-in-law - Kathy LaRock of Chatham; brother-in-law - Les (Linda) Takkinen of West Allis, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Bill on September 11, 2011, her brother-in-law Rod LaRock in 2004, father-in-law Les Takkinen in 2001, and mother-in-law Laura Takkinen in 2009.
Services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Sion Lutheran Church in Chatham. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Pastor Paul Kelto will conduct Carol's funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham in the spring.
