Traunik
Carol Ann “Cully” Droog, age 81, of Traunik and formerly of Inverness, FL died on Wednesday morning, February 23, 2022 at Medilodge in Munising. She was born on September 18, 1940 in Detroit to Arthur “Happy” and Anna “Spike” (Bisrticha) Leach. Cully moved to Grand Rapids at a young age. She graduated from Godwin High School and then attended Davenport College. She married Alvin Droog and together raised their three children. Cully was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Caledonia where she taught catechism classes. The family moved to Florida and Cully was a homemaker. She was widowed at a young age and then went to work at Citrus County Memorial Hospital. Cully retired from there and briefly moved to Pennsylvania with her friend Karen Franklin, before moving to the Upper Peninsula to live with her daughter eight years ago. Cully enjoyed working crossword puzzles, flower gardening, and loving on her grandkids and spoiling her dog, Bit Bit.
She is survived by her three children – Mark (Lynn) Droog and Joseph (Paula) Droog all of Alto, MI and Ann (Mark) Rittenger of Traunik; grandchildren – Jesse (Hannah), Laura (Austin), Delaney, Ellery, David (Sami), Rachel (Joe), Ali (Mark) and Lukas (Hailey); great grandchildren – Silas, Wesson, Denver, Cason, Kyleigh, Aiden, Grace, Malachi, Amaia, and one on the way. Cully was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin, and brother Arthur.
