Carol “Jennie” Beneteau-Ross, age 80, of Grand Marais, died on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at UPHS – Marquette. She was born on October 2, 1941 in LaSalle, Ontario to Martin and Muriel (Stephenson) Beneteau, Sr. The family moved to Michigan and Jennie grew up in Walled Lake. She graduated from Walled Lake High School in 1959. Jennie was a homemaker and married her love, Jim Ross. Together, they enjoyed travelling and spending winters in Mexico and Florida. Jennie was a gifted artist who expressed her talents through beautiful paintings. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, working cross stitch, and comparing notes with her sister as they watched the same soap operas in different towns. Jennie was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Grand Marais where she helped serve as an altar server.
She is survived by her husband – Jim Ross of Grand Marais; sister – Muriel Beneteau of Brimley; nephews – Matthew Bathey and Jeremy Beneteau; nieces – Adrianne Beneteau, Danielle Beneteau, and Lake Strongheart; great-nephew – Jaxon Bathey; and great-nieces Sophia Bathey and Jorja Skye Carrick. Jennie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Martin J. Beneteau, Jr.
Jennie’s Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church in Grand Marais, Michigan on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Michael Ocran officiating.
