Saginaw
Carolyn L. Moore, age 75, of Saginaw and formerly of Missouri and Gladstone, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw. She was born on July 10, 1947 in Hayti, Missouri the thirteenth of thirteen children to Sterling and Erabelle (Haislip) Slavings. She grew up on her family farm and then graduated from high school in 1964. Following graduation, Carol moved to Detroit with her sister and started working as a waitress. It was at her restaurant that she met Thomas Moore who was finishing school and working at Michigan Bell. They were married on October 23, 1965. They lived in Gladstone, Michigan from 1975 until moving to Saginaw in 1987. Carol worked in the restaurant industry for many years and managed multiple chain and mom and pop restaurants. She loved to garden, feed the birds and wildlife in her back yard, and music. Carol was great baker and talented cook. She made the best fried chicken and made many delicious meat loafs that she would freeze and ship off to family members. She loved her grandchildren fiercely and would do anything she could to be with them. Carol was also very generous and proudly supported the Salvation Army and American Legion.
She is survived by her daughters – Tammy Haupt of Sanford, MI and Tracy (Kevin) Hope Kumaus of Saginaw; grandchildren – Jacob, Lyric, Skyler, Zachary, Broly, and Mila; brother – Danny Slavings; sister – Jean Watson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loved in-laws. Carol was preceded in death by her husband – Tom Moore; parents - Sterling and Erabelle; and siblings – Odette Oats, Wright, Haslip, Ralph, Clifford, Eugene, Carol, Virgil, and Herman Slavings, and infant sister Norma.
Her visitation will be at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Eben Junction, Michigan on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Pastor Tom Schierkolk will officiate Carol’s funeral at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Limestone Township Cemetery on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
