Wetmore
Cecelia "Ceil" McQuisten, age 94, of Wetmore, died on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born in Mellen, WI on June 23, 1916, to the late Baldus and Violet (LeBeouf) Pohl. Ceil married Robert H. McQuisten on October 21, 1950. Together they owned and operated the "Hole" the basement restaurant and hangout spot on Elm Ave. Ceil was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she enjoyed looking after the kids during services, and baking bread for and preparing Christmas baskets. She was a caring woman who would take in children who needed help or a place to stay. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and raising small animals like chickens, rabbits, and even a peacock.
Ceil is survived by her children - Darlene (Lawrence) Luke of Shingleton, Jack (Dorothy) McQuisten of Monroe, MI, and Mathew McQuisten of Lake Geneva, WI; grandchildren - Kim, Laurie, Roxanne, Larry, Mickey, Shellie, Kelly, and Mattea; several great and great-great-grandchildren; nephews - Barry and Brian Ross; and cousin - Marvin (Nancy) Pohl. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, sisters Betty Duhaney and June Ross, and brother Baldus "Sonny" Pohl.
A memorial service is being planned for this spring.
