Charles Benjamin Chilicki, age 68, of H-15 Van Meer, died Saturday, March 19, 2011at his home under the loving care of his wife Judy. He was born on October 9, 1942, in Munising, to Benjamin and Mildred (Saulsbury) Chilicki. Charles attended Sacred Heart and Wm. G. Mather Schools. He entered in to the US Army and served for eight years before being honorably discharged. Charles worked with mechanical repair and small engine repairs, and was stationed in the U.S., Germany, and Japan. He married Judy Gronert on October 5, 1967. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for Grave's Sawmill. Charles was an easy going guy, who could make friends with anyone, and would give what he could to those who needed it. He enjoyed taking his family hunting and fishing, and listing to old time country music.
Charles is survived by his wife of forty-three years - Judy Chilicki; three children - Jacquline McGee of Van Meer, Connie (Frank) Stracener of Benton, AR, and Benjamin Charles Chilicki of Van Meer; four grandchildren - Elisabeth, Johanna, Barbra, and Katelin; nine great-grandchildren; siblings - Helen (Jerry) Kocurec, Mary Maynard, Louise (Byrne) Delos, Ann Tyner, and Stanley Chilicki; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, son - Charlie, and brother-in-law - Edward Maynard.
Charles's visitation will be on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. with his funeral beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the spring at Maple Grove Cemetery, where the American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
