Chester “Chico” Morin, age 90, of Gladstone and formerly of Munising and Trenary, died Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Transition Assisted Living in Gladstone. He was born in Munising on May 27, 1934 to the late Chester and Elna (Aho) Morin. Chico graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1953. He entered into the U.S. Army in 1955 and was stationed in Korea. Chico was honorably discharged in 1957 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He worked at Kimberly Clark as a rewinder and retired as an oiler in the mid 1990’s. Chico married Dolly Brant on November 21, 1959 and together they raised their two sons. Chico loved his sweets: candy, chocolate, and anything Dolly would bake. He enjoyed gardening and the flowers he grew until the deer would inevitably come and eat them. Chico would feed the birds in his backyard and watch with binoculars identifying anything that would visit his feeders. He was a great bowler and nearly scored a perfect 300. Chico enjoyed four-wheeling and was a charter member of SORVA in Alger County helping care for and open trails for riders to enjoy. He also became a member of SORVA in Delta County. Years ago, he was active in the Moose Lodge and served as the Governor two times, and he was also a member of the American Legion Post 131 in Munising. Chico and Dolly enjoyed spending time eating out for Friday fish fries and visiting their favorite taverns. They enjoyed their winters they spent in Lakeland, Florida and Chico would go to Spring training to cheer on his Detroit Tigers.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four year – Dolly Morin of Gladstone; sons – Tony Morin of Gladstone and Kevin Morin of Eben; granddaughter – Jessica; great-grandchildren – Trista, Scotti Lynn, M.J., Layton, and Arabelah; and brother – Butch Morin. Chico was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dolly Lukowski, and sister-in-law Patty Morin.
