Christopher Morris Dean II, age 16, of N899 U.S. Highway 41, died from injuries sustained in an ATV accident on the E-T Road on Thursday afternoon, June 25, 2009. He was born on April 3, 1993 in Kalamazoo, MI to Christopher M. and Lori A. (Risner) Dean. Christopher enjoyed basketball, football, video games, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and his favorite breakfast, a blueberry muffin. He was also very talented in the Taekwondo, finishing first in the Chicago Rumble tournament two times. No matter what Chris did, he did it to the max and the best he could. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Union City and also the Kalamazoo Valley Family Church. Chris enjoyed taking time to read the Bible and attend Sunday Bible School which would inspire him to sing "This Little Light of Mine". He had even looked into what it would take for him to become a minister. Christopher loved spending time with his family and friends all over the state of Michigan spreading his sense of humor, practical jokes, and his smile wherever he went.
He is survived by his father - Christopher (Lucy Holcomb) Dean of Trenary; mother - Lori Ann Dean of Union City, MI; sister - Cortnai Dean; brothers - Bo Fox, Richard Dean, and Devin Holcomb; niece - Aliyah Ann Krontz; grandparents - Morris and Genevieve Dean of Kalamazoo and Emma Collins of Union City; aunts and uncles - Keith (Karen) Miller, Jamie (Rick) Stephan, Phyllene (James) Allison, and DeAnna Marshall; cousins - Dustin and Amber Miller, Quinlyn and Mikaela Stephan, Scott and Shawnna Hanyoust, Kenneth Allison, Thomas and Tara Vaughn; girlfriend - Molly; and many other family and friends. Christopher was preceded in death by his Grandpa Daniel Risner and Grandpa Jerry Collins; and best friend Allen Chandler.
Chris's visitation will be on Sunday June 28, 2009 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pastor Jason LaFlamme will conduct his funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday June 29, 2009. Interment will be at the Munising Township Cemetery in Wetmore, MI. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Chris's family in his memory.
