Clara Cherwinski, age 62, of Johnson Road in VanMeer, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at her home under the loving care of North Woods Home Hospice and her family. She was born on July 4, 1949 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, to Roy and Sarah (Sampson) Vincent. She married James Arthur Cherwinski, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Clara was a homemaker who enjoyed brook trout fishing, deer hunting, and mushroom picking.
She is survived by her children - Araya Carr of Shingleton, Marvin (Amy) Jones of Pontiac, Marin Wayne Durfee of Colorado, Sandra Spencer of Traverse City, Carlton (Johanna) Drablowski of VanMeer, Clara Platt of Shingleton, and Nelson Maddox of Enid, OK; father - Roy Vincent of Arcadia, MI; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers - Steve (Jakie), Milton, and Nelson (Theresa) Vincent all of Lower Michigan. Clara was preceded in death by her husband - James; daughter - Sarah Agnes Jones; and mother - Sarah.
