Clare Starzyk Williams
Clare Williams, 92, passed away peacefully at Medilodge of Munising on October 8, 2024.
Clare was preceeded in death by her parents, Leo and Domina Starzyk, as well as her siblings: John Starzyk, Sally Ward, Joe Starzyk, Ted Starzyk, Helen Witkowski, Cecilia Somerville, Charles Starzyk, and Joan LaFond. She was also preceeded in death by her husband Larry Williams, and her companion Richard Nebel. Clare is survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
Clare enjoyed a full life. After taking early retirement from a career at General Electric in Milwaukee, Clare (along with husband Larry) returned to her childhood hometown of Munising. She enjoyed travel, cooking, and entertaining. Most of all, she loved to go blueberry picking, and took great delight in finding the best blueberry patches all around Munising. She shared her signature blueberry muffins with friends, and baked them for local fundraisers. Clare was fiercely independent, and she lived at home until earlier this year.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
A message from Clare’s niece Susan Somerville Moody:
Heartfelt thanks go to so many wonderful people who helped both Clare and me during her final years, with special mention of dear friends Connie and Dale Charboneau, Jean Vinskoski, and Bill Kinnunen. Much appreciation also to the dedicated staffs at Medilodge of Munising, the Commission on Aging, Munising Memorial Hospital, Adult Protective Services, and Peoples State Bank. While Munising is well known for its beautiful shoreline along Lake Superior, it is the People of Munising who make this such an exceptional place. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
