Cleo Therese Steinhoff, age 85, of Munising, died on Monday morning, March 7, 2016 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on April 26, 1931 in Munising to Leo and Evelyn (Morin) Colbus. Cleo graduated from Sacred Heart School and then attended Wm. G. Mather High School. Cleo was a cook at the A & W, Three Sisters, and Dogpatch. She married George “Jug” Steinhoff on August 4, 1951. They were married over fifty-four years when Jug preceded her in death on June 20, 2006. Cleo was a member of Sacred Heart Church and she enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her in-laws – Anita Colbus, Judy Colbus, Vern (Susie) Steinhoff, Lillian Moreau, Levi Steinhoff, and Marge Steinhoff; numerous nieces and nephews with special niece, Kathleen; and her second family – Shirley, Joe, Bonnie, Gail, Dee Jay and their families. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jug, her son Danny, brothers Lee “Mopey” and Dennis Colbus, and sisters Marilyn Cooper and Anita Hurst.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
