AuTrain / Escanaba
Connie Moore (nee McCollum), age 66, of Escanaba and longtime resident of AuTrain, died peacefully, Friday, March 11, 2022, at UP Health Systems Marquette surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 18, 1956 in Munising to the late George and Elmira (St. Martin) McCollum. Connie graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1975. She married Jeffery Moore on July 31, 1977, and together they raised their two daughters. Connie was a talented cook and shared her skills at the Brownstone Inn, Mr. B’s, Friends and Food, and A&L Party Store. Before the girls were born, Connie and Jeff would go south for winters and worked planting trees starting in Florida, Georgia and moving north as the weather warmed to Maryland and Minnesota. Connie enjoyed the outdoors and loved walks in the woods and on the beach. These past couple of years while living in Escanaba she loved feeding the deer and watching the turkeys that roamed in their back yard. Connie would “shop til you drop” dragging her daughters out on Black Friday. She also enjoyed crossword and wordsearch puzzles, coloring books, BINGO, and often had a cribbage board in her purse. Connie was active in the AuTrain Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary volunteering for many potlucks, BINGO nights, and fund raisers.
She is survived by her husband of forty-four years – Jeff Moore of Escanaba; daughters – Jessica Moore of Escanaba and Shannon Moore of Munising; grandchildren – Jocelyn, Zander, Ezekiel, and Zahniya; sisters – Ann Clapp of Munising and Judy (Bill) Rautanen of Munising; step siblings – Mary (Andy) Shepley, and Ralph Moore; sister-in-law – Kris (Sam) Hardee; step sister-in-law – Murial Moore; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Connie was preceded in death by her father – George McCollum; mother – Elmira (Donald) Moore; brothers – Tom (Mary Doolittle) McCollum and Mark McCollum; step-siblings – Ed Moore, Bruce Moore, Billy Moore, and Frances Moore.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be on Saturday, March 26, 2022 beginning at 2:00 p.m. where friends and family will be able to shares stories at the AuTrain Community Building in AuTrain. Visiting will follow until 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
