Munising
Daniel L. Lyon, age 63, died Monday, October, 30 2017, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans. Daniel died from Lewy Body Disease which had resulted in him suffering from severe Lewy Body Dementia for the past eighteen years. He served in the United States Army and was medically retired in 1973, due to the effects of an automobile accident. Dan then attended Ferris State College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health. He was a Registered Sanitarian in the State of Michigan. He worked for the United States Postal Service and other miscellaneous environmental health positions, before taking the position as Head Sanitarian for the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dan’s health conditions lead him to an early medical retirement from U of M, and he moved to Munising where his sister Rebecca and her husband DuWayne cared for him at their home for ten years.
A special thank you to all the staffs of Alger County Commission on Aging (twelve years of care); Superior Health Haven (two years of care); and D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans (the past two and half years of care). Thank you for all of your excellent care and attention to Dan’s welfare. You went above and beyond your jobs and accepted him in a loving family way.
Services will take place at a later date.
