David A. Marentette

David A. Marentette, age 67, of Lake Orion, MI formerly of Munising died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the William Belmont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was born on April 26, 1941in Ferndale, MI to the late Raymond and Mertle (Barteau) Marentette. In 1959 Dave entered the U.S. Navy, he was stationed on the USS Merrick AKA 97 before being honorably discharged in 1961. On December 24, 1960 he married his grade school sweetheart Sally Niemi. In October of 1962 Dave began working for the Munising Paper Mill as a Utility Helper in the Labor Pool. He retired from Kimberly-Clark in the Materials Handling Department as a Receiver in 1998. Dave was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, and NASCAR following Dale Earnhardt Jr. He also enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. Dave was a great father and a good friend, who had a special sense of humor and a huge heart. He married Susan Perry on July 11, 1992. While living in Lake Orion Dave enjoyed working at the Snug Harbor Bait Shop.
He is survived by son - Rodney (Sherry) Marentette of Austin, TX; daughter - Rhonda (Jim) Scotti of Oxford, MI; grandchildren - Sally, Keith, Kyle, Sean, Cody, and Abby; step-daughter Jamie (Sean) Hayes; sisters - Elizabeth Rousseau and Pat (John) Klosowski; brother - Gus (Patty) Marentette; sisters and brother-in-law - Audrey Marentette, Garnet Bryan, and Jim and Sue Boggs; special friend - Susan Marentette, special niece - Kaylee and numerous nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his Wife Sally in 1991; parents - Raymond and Mertle; brother - Raymond Marentette; and brother-in-law - Douse Rousseau.
Visitation will be at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Sunday, November 2, 2008 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. David's Funeral will be on Monday, November 3, at the Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery where the American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military honors. Following the all the services Dave's family would like to invite friends to join them at the American Legion for a fellowship gathering. He is going to be escorted by: John and Ray Klosowski, John Hyvonen, TJ Lassila, Al Makinen, and Jack Linski.
