David "Dave" A. Miskus

Munising

David “Dave” Miskus, age 61, of Munising and formerly of Romeo, MI, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.  He was born on January 13, 1956 in St. Clair, Michigan to Arthur and Darlene (Schroeder) Miskus.  Dave Graduated from Richmond High School, and then started working for Ford Motor Company.  While at Ford, he was lovingly known as “Biskit”, and was an active member of The UAW Local Union #400 and retired after 32 years of service.  He loved snowmobiling, and had a passion for the trails in the U.P.  Dave’s goal was to be able to walk out his door, jump on his sled, and ride.  So after retirement, he moved to the UP and did just that.  Dave was a member of the Michigan Snowmobile Association (MSA), Hiawatha Snowmobile Club, Moose Country, and Alger S.O.R.V.A where he would volunteer for trail maintenance and grooming.  Dave married his long-time girlfriend Jacki (nee Schimelfening) Gordon on June 26, 2015, and together they enjoyed their walks together and their faith.  Dave was an active member of the Eden Lutheran Church in Munising.  He loved to work with the youth groups, going on mission trips with them, and sharing his faith with them.  Dave would volunteer as a greeter and usher, and even played the part of Martin Luther on Reformation Sunday.  Aside from snowmobiling, he enjoyed fishing, listening to “The greatest band in the history of the World” Yes, and smoking a good cigar.  Dave was very thrifty; he could always find a way to reuse or repurpose something. He was also a good Samaritan, willing to help others and volunteer for anyone who asked, even if meant not finishing a project at home.  Dave was a wonderful husband, father, and best “bonus dad” anyone could ask for.

He is survived by his wife – Jaclyn “Jacki” Miskus of Munising, children – Ryun (Michele) Miskus of Flowery Branch, GA and Erin Senkow of Marysville, MI; bonus daughter – Skylar Rose “Skeecho” Campbell; grandchildren – Neve, Ethan, Alivia, Lucas, and Willow; mother – Darlene (Al) Brown of Oldsmar, FL; brother – Tim (Pat) Miskus; sister-in-law – Sandy Miskus; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Dave was preceded in death by his father Arthur Miskus and brother Mike Miskus.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising.  Pastor Ann Gonyea will conduct Dave’s funeral on Tuesday, November 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church in Munising.
