Deborah "Debbie" R. (Truckey) Servia

Deborah “Debbie” (Truckey) Servia, age 61, of Munising, died with her children by her side at Munising Memorial Hospital on Friday morning, December 23, 2022, following a lengthy respiratory illness.  She was born on May 23, 1961 in Jackson, MI and in November of 1961, she was adopted by her loving parents, Willard “Bill” and Maryrene (Armstrong) Truckey and welcomed into a lively extended family.  In 1972, the family moved from Marquette to Munising where Debbie was the adorable face at the Sunset Motel as a child.  She graduated from Mather High School in 1979, and took pride in being student council president.  She earned a Sociology Degree from Lake Superior State.

Debbie married Jim Servia on August 20, 1983 and together raised their three children in Neenah, WI.  She cared for elderly in several assisted living facilities, taking the time to learn each person’s individual story while helping them age with dignity. In 2016, she moved back to Munising to care for her mom.

Debbie was artistic and creative, enjoying embroidery and sewing.  One of her last projects was crafting her daughter’s wedding dress.  She loved to sit and visit over a cup of coffee and a table of snacks.  Her friends will always remember her unwavering kindness, warm energy, and ability to listen without judgement.  Most of all, Debbie loved her children, grandchildren, and close friends relentlessly.

She is survived by her children -  John (Ruth) Servia of Neenah, WI, Joe Servia of Marquette, and Jayme (Zach Chartrand) Servia of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren – Frankie, Olive, and Calvin of Neenah; aunts, cousins, and friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Maryrene Truckey and her beloved cat Monkey.

Visiting time with family and friends will be held on January 21, 2023, at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. and a memorial service celebrating her life will begin at 1:00.  Following the service, time for fellowship will be at Falling Rock Café.  In lieu of gifts, the family would like donations given to the Alger County Commission on Aging where Debbie served as a board member.
