Munising
Delores "Dee" A. Vanatta, age 71, of Munising, died Tuesday evening, July 12, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital. She was born on April 9, 1940 in McMillan, MI, to the late Glenn and Jean (Chapman) Koontz. Dee lived in Dripping Springs, TX from 1981 to 1998 when she moved to Munising. She enjoyed reading romance novels, watching Judge Judy, and listing to gospel and honky-tonk music. The thing that made Dee the happiest was becoming a grandma.
She is survived by her daughter Jean (Romaldo) Nevarez of Munising, special friend who Dee loved as her own Michel Hayward; grandchildren Eric and Marlena Nevarez and special grandkids Nathan and Angela Hayward; sisters Donna Hill of Vancouver, WA and Diane (Bruce) Gilman of Germfask; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Jean; infant sister Jacklyn Koontz, brother Martin (Edna) Koontz, and nephew Greg Koontz.
Pastor Ted Jolls will conduct a memorial service at the Limestone Baptist Church on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.
