Dennis G. Moore, age 79, of North Shore Road, in AuTrain, MI, died Monday, October 8, 2012 at Marquette General Hospital. He was born on February 16, 1933 to the late Charles Fredrick "Fred" and Esther (Doucette) Moore. Dennis graduated from William G. Mather in 1951. He married Gayle C. Merrill on January 1, 1953. Dennis enlisted into the United States Navy Air Corp. and was honorably discharged. He was an owner and sales manager for Clarklift of Columbus in Ohio when he retired in 1983. Dennis took advantage of his retirement to move back to the U.P. so he was able to enjoy the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and spending quality time with friends and family. He looked forward to hunting trips especially the South Dakota pheasant hunts. Dennis was an entertainer, if he wasn't telling a story or joke, or playing a practical joke on someone, he was grabbing a live microphone to sing his favorite Frank Sinatra song. He was a member of the American Legion Post #131 and the NRA.
Dennis is survived by his daughter and son-in-law - Jillene and Edwin Graves. Jr., of Moran, MI; grandsons - Aaron (Susan) and Adam (Abigail) Graves; granddaughter - Amanda (Jason) McCullough; great-grandchildren - Henry, Charles, Averie, Ainsley, Archer, Marin, Delaney, and Samuel; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents - Fred and Esther; wife - Gayle; and sisters - Patricia (James) LaCombe and Paula (Ira "Hack") Hanson.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Dennis's service will begin at noon with military honors by the American Legion and Vietnam Veterans Honor Guards. Deacon Tom Moseley will continue with a memorial service. Memorials in Dennis's name may be made to the Munising American Legion - Roderick Prato Post #131 or the Munising 4th of July Fireworks Fund.
