Munising
Dennis “Denny” Gamelin, age 83, of Munising, died under the loving care of family and North Woods Hospice at his home on Friday, May 27, 2022. He was born on June 6, 1938 in Jackson, Michigan to Beatrice Gamelin. Denny grew up in Munising and spent a great amount of time with grandparents Alphonse and Delima Gamelin. As a teenager, Denny found his love for fast cars and convertibles. He started working for Snowden Construction in Escanaba and was a part of the Mackinac Bridge construction. In 1958, Denny moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin and started working for American Motors. He was a fork truck driver, and retired after 30 years of service at Chrysler. Denny married his high school sweetheart, Deanna M. Gollinger on May 7, 1960 in Milwaukee at St. John’s Cathedral. While working at Chrysler, Denny also worked with a partner for Trojan Pools where they sold and constructed inground pools for 20 years. In 1993, they moved to Wisconsin Dells, and lived in their dream home that Denny built piece by piece and year by year. He was a talented wood worker, and was busy building something all the time. His favorite projects were the things he would make for his grandchildren. His favorite thing to read was the Family Handyman monthly magazine, which he kept all of, and his favorite store was Menards. Denny enjoyed hunting season, not so much the hunting, but the comradery and time with friends. Denny and Deanna moved back to Munising in 2014. Denny was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Church.
