Devon Lynn Cook, age 21, of Sault Ste. Marie and formerly of Munising, died unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. She was born on May 3, 1989 in Marquette to Ross and Gina (Benson) Cook. Devon spent her youth growing up in Munising and attended school here. In 2003, she moved to Sault Ste. Marie with her mom and graduated from Malcolm High School in Sault Ste. Marie. Devon worked as a waitress. Because she suffered from chronic and severe back pain, she was unable to work in recent years. Devon enjoyed music, her computer, Facebook, and she loved being with her friends.
She is survived by her parents - Gina Cook of Sault Ste. Marie and Ross and Aletta Cook of Munising; brothers and sisters - Dillon Cook of Munising, Buddy Cook, Barbie Cook and Amy Cook all of of Appleton and Armahn Payment of Sault Ste. Marie; nieces and nephew - Justyce, Grace, Elizabeth and Nathaniel; grandparents - Paula (Chuck) Ruotsala of Crandon, WI and Bob (Jackie) Benson of Sault Ste. Marie; aunts and uncles - Kelly (Tim) Hall of Munising, Buddy Cook of Munising, Karla (Wayne) Downs of Cecil, WI, and Natasha (Dan Hakkarainen) Moore of Ishpeming,; cousins - Jimmy Hall, Jon Cook, Alicia Cook, Jordan Downs, Jolene Downs, Brittney Moore, Madison Hakkarainen and Braylon Hakkarainen; and numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins. Devon was preceded in death by her grandparents - James and Carrie Cook.
Visitation will be at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jason LaFlamme will conduct Devon's funeral service on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home's chapel.
