Munising
Donald Lee DesArmo, age 74, of 601 W. Onota Street, Munising, died on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 11:45 p.m. at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. He was born on July 27, 1938 in Munising to the late Fred and Helen (Elya) DesArmo. Don graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School and then served in the U.S. Navy. While working in New York as a newspaper printer, he met and married his wife Marilyn. They moved the family to Munising and Don worked and retired from Timber Products. He was a quiet man who loved his family. Don was wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening and hunting, and was a tremendous fan of the New York Mets.
Don is survived by his wife - Marilyn; children - Alfred Borowski of Marquette, Linda (Red) Gamelin of Conway, AR, Marilyn (Tom) Rzanca of Munising, and Steve (Tanya) Borowski of Munising, Tracy DesArmo of New York, and Donald DesArmo, Jr. of New York; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother - Jim DesArmo of Sheboygan, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack DesArmo.
Graveside services will be held in the Veterans section of Maple Grove Cemetery on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Jim Ramelis will conduct committal prayers and the American Legion and Vietnam Veterans Honor Guards will conduct military honors. A time of fellowship and visiting will be held at the First Presbyterian Church following the services at the cemetery.
