Trenary
Donald Wesley Hoy, age 86, of Trenary, passed away on Monday afternoon, April 9, 2018 at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette. Donald was born in Trenary on September 10, 1931, son of John and Lillie (Stine) Hoy. He graduated from Trenary High School in 1951. Donald entered into the U.S. Army in 1952 and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1954. Don worked on the Great Lakes ore boats, he worked at Cleveland Cliffs in Marquette, and retired after twenty years of work at the Holmquist Feed Mill in Trenary. While on shore leave from the ore boats, Donald took a trip to Guadalajara, Mexico where after a whirlwind courtship, he married the love of his life, Rosa Maria Bianchi Tatay. The couple settled in Trenary where they raised their three children. Donald was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department & First Responders in Trenary, and was also a member of the Trenary Senior Citizens Club. He enjoyed traveling with his family to Mexico, listening to music, watching television, and taking trips to the casino. Donald was a man of few words but when he spoke, he spoke volumes. He was very proud of his family and was a kind and honest man who would always lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife of over fifty-seven years – Rosa Maria Hoy of Trenary; their children – Rosa Maria “Rosemary” Hoy of Harvey, George (Suzzann) Hoy of Maryland, and Debbie (Dennis) Hebert of Marshfield, WI; five grandchildren – Brittny (Josh) McGregor, Tyler Wesley Hoy, Ryan Hoy, Brandon Hebert and his fiancée Emma Hawkins, and Jordan (Matthew) Connolly; three great grandchildren – Oliver and Juliette McGregor and Layla Maria Connolly; and other special people in his life.
